Clijsters - emotional after win against Williams

Kim Clijsters' return to the WTA tour has been long awaited by fans and players alike. She is the most liked player on the woman's tour. She has a sweet and humble demeanor off the court, always complimentary of other players and never makes excuses for losses.

She played well in Cincy taking out Marion Bartoli in her first comeback match.

Her arrival at the U.S. Open has been no different. She won her first three matches business as usual, but round four was gonna prove to be a challenge. Round 4 meant meeting Venus Williams. Although Williams has a winning record over Clijsters, the last Open Kim played in 2005, she beat Venus and went on to win the tournament.

This was the weirdest match I've seen in a long time. Clijsters came out of the gate really strong and Venus just never seemed to get her groove. Clijsters bageled Williams taking the first set 6-0. Then two different women showed up for the second set. Venus could do no wrong and Kim couldn't get a ball in... and Venus bageled Clijsters 6-0. These two sets combined took less that fifty minutes! The third set found both women playing pretty good tennis, and they both actually won games in the same set. Clijsters put together a good game plan and came out on top, in tears as she won the third set, knowing she would be moving on to the quarter finals.

Although Williams never talks about her injuries, and likes to dodge any questions regarding injury, after seeing this match one could wonder if this knee injury is more serious than she's letting on...

I will be pulling for Clijsters in the quarters!
